Let’s party like it’s 9 months ago
Growing a human is tiring, painful, and stressful, but it doesn’t have to be all business. Especially during that sweet spot in the second trimester, we can try to have a little fun with some non-alcoholic adult beverages, right? Right. I crowdsourced the top recs from moms I know to create the ultimate bump-friendly drink list.
Sip happy!
Beers
Here are five beers worth checking out. The most common recommendations were Guinness 0.0 and Heineken 0.0.
- Guinness 0.0 – Creamy, roasty, and scarily close to the original stout.
- Heineken 0.0 – Classic lawn-chair lager flavor without the booze.
- Corona Cero – Light, crisp, and beachy (pair with tacos and lime).
I asked my friend (beer expert and mom of two) Stephanie Edwards from @thebeergal to weigh in with her picks. She agrees Guinness 0.0 tastes the most like the real deal. If you’re looking for something a little less mainstream, check these out:
- Untitled Art Italian Pils – Craft-quality bubbles in Pinterest-pretty cans. @thebeergal’s review: “Untitled Art makes the best non-alcoholic beers IMO, and it helps that the cans are so pretty.”
- Athletic Brewing Run Wild IPA – Hoppy kick for IPA fans, minus the next-day regret. @thebeergal says, “Athletic Brewing’s non-alcoholic beers are also very good.”
Mocktails
Mocktails are a personal favorite, but when they’re done wrong they can end up sugary and not worth the extra calories. Fortunately, new options keep hitting shelves. Here are the products moms say are doing it right:
- Ghia Le Spritz – Bitter-citrus spritz that feels straight out of the Amalfi Coast.
- Ritual Zero Proof Tequila – Smoky agave notes; I’m told it’s perfect for virgin patio margs with zero buzz.
- Seedlip Spice 94 – Warm spice botanicals that turn any faux-fashioned into a vibe.
- Craftmix Variety Pack – A low-sugar, low-calorie cocktail mix that comes in a dry blend. This is my personal favorite.Just add water and close your eyes for a mini tropical vacation.
Wine
Wine dupes are the trickiest, so manage your expectations and chill them well for the best flavor.
- Giesen 0% Premium Red Blend – New Zealand red with legit tannins; surprisingly complex for zero alcohol.
- Tart Cherry Juice in a wine glass – One mom’s go-to: deep color, slight tang, and antioxidants for the win.
Final Pour
Whether you’re team stout, spritz, or “wine,” there’s a solid lineup of non-alcoholic options that make pregnancy socials a little more fun. Mix, match, and serve in your fanciest glass, because you (and baby) deserve a toast.
